Engineering Manager (Python)

Location: 100% remote; the team works from home across 10 countries

Salary: £100,000–£120,000 per annum, depending on experience

What you will do

• Manage software engineers by providing structure, purpose, guidance, and regular updates.
• Accelerate product development by improving workflows, introducing best practices, and applying agile methodologies.
• Manage projects and releases, including testing, deployment, and post-deployment activities.
• Monitor performance metrics, remove delivery blockers, and maintain team productivity.
• Improve code quality and consistency while contributing practical input to technology strategy and the technology roadmap.
• Recruit engineering talent, navigate conflicts, and respond quickly to business and technology changes during peak season.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of experience in software development and team management.
• At least 7 years of experience with Python and in-depth knowledge of the Python ecosystem.
• Understanding of JavaScript, Vue.js, and the wider technology stack.
• Experience developing, deploying, and integrating software solutions, documenting processes, and monitoring performance metrics.
• Experience reporting to a founder or senior leadership team, or working in a small, high-growth scale-up.
• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, information systems, information technology, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience in e-commerce, online marketplaces, or online travel agencies.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Django, Celery, PostgreSQL, Redis, Solr, Memcached, Nginx, Varnish, Cloudflare, or GitLab.
