Engineering Manager (Python)

What you will do

• Lead and grow the engineering team responsible for the DrayDog platform.
• Own people management, including 1:1s, performance reviews, career development, hiring, and mentoring.
• Design, architect, build, and evolve backend services using Python, FastAPI, Temporal, and PostgreSQL.
• Set technical direction, lead planning and design reviews, and collaborate with Product and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Own the technical roadmap and delivery from concept through production.
• Drive testing, observability, SLIs/SLOs, postmortems, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience or equivalent demonstrated impact.
• 2+ years of formal people-management experience.
• Expert-level Python and backend API design skills, with FastAPI or similar experience.
• Strong database design and query optimization skills.
• Experience with containers, deployment, monitoring, reliability, and DevOps practices.
• Experience in startup or high-growth SaaS environments and a track record of mentoring engineers and improving engineering quality.

Nice to have

• Experience using AI tools to improve coding, testing, documentation, and operations.
• Experience with Temporal, Azure Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, Pulumi, or Vue.js.
