Autonomy Development Engineer (C/C++)

Location: Onsite five days a week in Mossville, Illinois; some teams may work from Irving, Texas. Travel up to 15% may be required.

What you will do

• Develop production-quality C/C++ software for autonomous and semi-autonomous heavy equipment.
• Own features or subsystems across design, implementation, validation, and release.
• Contribute to requirements definition, architecture discussions, and technical trade-offs.
• Troubleshoot software and system issues using code, logs, profiling, and performance analysis.
• Support verification, validation, and functional safety activities.
• Collaborate with software, systems, hardware, and validation teams while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and the ability to implement scalable solutions from system designs.
• Experience contributing across the software development lifecycle and executing development plans independently.
• Strong debugging, profiling, performance optimization, and structured problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Onsite work five days per week is required.
• Visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with autonomy domains such as planning, positioning, perception, or controls.
• ROS, Linux, CI/CD, Git, DevOps, hardware/software integration, and reusable autonomy frameworks.
• Embedded C/C++, real-time systems, AUTOSAR Classic, CAN, Ethernet, Matlab/Simulink, or remote-control systems.
• Experience in construction or mining industries.
