Location: Remote within the United States; the role is part of a remote-first environment. Salary varies by U.S. location.

Salary: $104,000–$136,000 annually in the San Francisco, New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, Boston, and DC metropolitan areas; $91,000–$118,750 annually in the Austin, Denver, Nashville, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, and Miami metropolitan areas; $77,000–$101,000 annually in all other U.S. locations.

What you will do

• Review, clarify, and refine game concepts from the existing backlog.
• Develop narrative arcs that can support episodic content.
• Define plots, themes, tone, mood, characters, and settings for prototype development.
• Storyboard story beats and communicate narrative direction to stakeholders and co-development teams.
• Advise and critique prototype work in collaboration with external development teams.
• Organize and conduct recording sessions for story-based audio.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience writing for games.
• Professional horror experience is required.
• Storyboarding experience in games, television, and/or film.
• Strong understanding of and passion for soft or gray in-world storytelling.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a remote-first environment.
• A service-oriented approach to bringing worlds and characters to life.

Nice to have

• Experience collaborating with design and art teams on world-building implementation.
• Experience directing voice actors.
• Passion for horror and atmospheric storytelling.
• Additional storyboarding experience.
