Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada. Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Priority given to BC Residents, Canadians, and Permanent Residents.

Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 CAD

What you will do

• Create highly detailed environment layouts and prop placements supporting storyboards and the script.
• Develop environment structure and set dressing with strong attention to perspective, scale, and composition.
• Implement the stylized look of the show through clear silhouettes, appealing shape design, and visual organization.
• Collaborate with Design and Animation teams to refine layouts and communicate them for production.
• Work from 3D shot references, including camera views, layout renders, and production references.
• Manage time effectively to hit production deadlines without compromising artistic quality.

Requirements

• 2 to 5+ years of experience in an animation art department (feature film or high-end episodic preferred).
• Strong portfolio emphasizing 2D environment design and layout.
• Exceptional drawing skills and deep technical understanding of camera perspective and structural composition.
• Excellent Adobe Photoshop skills.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Nice to have

• Traditional painting skills.
• 3D production literacy, including familiarity with camera setups, block-ins, and projection workflows.
• Experience working in 2.5D, CG-character, or hybrid animation pipelines.
• Familiarity with tracking software like Flow Production Tracking (ShotGrid).
