Senior Software Engineer (Elasticsearch)

Location: Remote from Spain

Salary: €67,000–€106,000 EUR gross annual base salary; no variable compensation.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and optimize hirify.globalsearch's core storage and query engine.
• Lead the architectural evolution of storage engine components, improving indexing layouts, serialization formats, and resource utilization.
• Develop storage efficiency, ES|QL query processing and performance, and data layouts for object storage.
• Drive cross-organizational initiatives for observability, logs, and metrics capabilities.
• Investigate complex system behavior, resolve performance bottlenecks, and improve operational practices.
• Act as a subject matter expert and mentor engineers while reviewing issues and pull requests.

Requirements

• Location: must be based in Spain.
• Senior-level experience developing high-performance, scalable database, search, or distributed systems.
• Experience efficiently indexing, storing, and querying time-series or logs data.
• Strong Java skills, including concurrency primitives, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience with data storage technologies such as hirify.globalsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Prometheus.
• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and collaborate autonomously across distributed teams.

Nice to have

• Previous hirify.globalsearch development experience.
• Open-source project experience and familiarity with source control workflows and continuous integration.
• Experience developing databases, search engines, operating systems, or cloud services.
