TL;DR
Senior Java Engineer (Cybersecurity): Designing and developing Spring Boot and Java solutions for managing firewall rules and strengthening ING’s global network security with an accent on scalable, resilient software, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code. Focus on automating infrastructure with Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, and Ansible, collaborating across teams, and improving security operations and engineering practices.
Location: Madrid, Spain; hybrid work with flexible days at home and at the ING MAD office

What you will do
- Design, develop, and enhance Java and Spring Boot software for the DDoS Squad within the Global Security Organization.
- Build and deploy solutions using CI/CD practices and automated deployment pipelines.
- Develop and automate infrastructure components with Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders on secure, scalable, and resilient solutions.
- Participate in Agile planning, refinement, continuous delivery, and improvement activities.
- Maintain documentation and operational procedures while improving incident, problem, change, and configuration management.
Requirements
- Proven experience with Spring Boot or Java EE application development.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code practices.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes and/or OpenShift, plus Helm, Terraform, or Ansible.
- Understanding of security and risk principles in software development.
- Strong communication skills, adaptability, and a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent professional capability.
- Excellent spoken and written English is required.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of network and security environments.
- Scripting experience with Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Familiarity with Agile, DevOps, Scrum, and continuous improvement practices.
- Interest in mentoring colleagues and sharing knowledge.
