What you will do

• Provide scientific oversight and strategic vision for cell engineering, molecular cloning, viral vector production, and functional genomic screens.
• Scale existing workflows by implementing automation and continuous improvement methodologies like Lean/Six Sigma.
• Manage and mentor a multi-tiered organization, including an Associate Director and a high-throughput production team of 15.
• Act as the primary technical liaison for internal and external customers to scope and execute custom cell engineering projects.
• Manage laboratory budgets, equipment procurement, and resource forecasting to ensure timely project delivery.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or Bioengineering with 5-8+ years of industry experience (or Master's with 10+ years).
• 3+ years of experience successfully managing multi-tiered teams in a high-throughput biotech, pharma, or CRO environment.
• Deep expertise in molecular biology, viral vector prep (lentivirus, AAV), and functional genomics (CRISPR, RNAi).
• Extensive experience scaling cultures of immortalized lines, primary cells, and iPSCs.
• Proven track record of implementing laboratory automation (liquid handlers, automated incubators) and managing large data workflows.
• Must be based in or able to work hybrid in Burlington, MA.
