TL;DR
Stress Engineer (Aerospace): Sizing aircraft structural parts, components, and installations made from metal and carbon fiber using FEM techniques, analysis tools, and handbook methods with an accent on structural concepts, mechanical systems, and airframe qualification. Focus on evaluating structural damage, developing repairs, supporting manufacturing and assembly, and applying Nastran, Hyperworks, and established stress analysis methods.

Location: Manching, Germany; onsite role. Applicants must be EU citizens or eligible to obtain a German work permit.

What you will do

  • Size aircraft structural parts, components, and installations made from metal and carbon fiber.
  • Perform finite element analysis, stress analysis, and trade-off studies for structural concepts and design solutions.
  • Analyze mechanical systems and equipment integration.
  • Prepare analysis reports and statements supporting airframe qualification.
  • Assess in-service aircraft damage, develop repairs, and evaluate concessions and nonconformities.
  • Support manufacturing and assembly lines and communicate with stakeholders across disciplines.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Diploma degree in aerospace engineering or an equivalent field.
  • Several years of experience in aircraft structural analysis.
  • Business-fluent English and German are required.
  • Strong knowledge of standard stress analysis methods, including HSB, Bruhn, ESDU, and Roark & Young.
  • Experience with stress analysis and FEM tools such as Nastran and Hyperworks.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience in pipe-work stress analysis or impact simulations.
  • Proactive attitude and experience working across multiple engineering disciplines.
