What you will do

• Lead high-impact backend and platform initiatives for large-scale healthcare data processing.
• Own architectural decisions for distributed systems to ensure scalability, reliability, and alignment with long-term technical vision.
• Design and build scalable backend services and APIs capable of supporting hundreds of terabytes of data.
• Partner with Product, Data Engineering, and AI/ML teams to translate business needs into technical roadmaps.
• Mentor engineers through technical leadership, architectural guidance, and design reviews.
• Collaborate across teams to resolve technical bottlenecks and accelerate delivery.

Requirements

• Proven track record of leading complex technical initiatives from concept through production.
• Deep experience designing scalable backend platforms, distributed systems, APIs, or event-driven architectures.
• Strong programming experience in Python or other modern backend languages (Java, Go, Scala, C++).
• Experience working in cloud-native environments, preferably AWS.
• Experience building systems that process large volumes of data or high-throughput distributed workloads.
• Must be based in or able to work hybrid in New York

Nice to have

• Experience with Spark, Kafka, Hudi, Airflow, or other distributed data technologies.
