What you will do

• Design and own high-throughput, distributed data pipelines and platform infrastructure from concept through production.
• Write production-grade, strongly typed Python (mypy, Pydantic) built for long-term stability.
• Optimize large-scale SQL queries, including data modeling and execution plan tuning.
• Architect boundary contracts between frontend, backend services, and infrastructure.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with leadership on the technical roadmap.
• Implement system observability and monitoring using Datadog or equivalent tools.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with full ownership of production systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL at scale.
• Deep experience building and operating distributed data pipelines and event-driven architectures.
• Hands-on AWS experience (Lambda, SQS, IAM, CloudWatch) and Docker.
• Habitual, fluent use of AI tools (Claude, Cursor, etc.) in daily workflow.
• Must be based in California.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with FastAPI, Django, SQLAlchemy, or Celery.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CDK).
