Principal Engineer (AWS/Cloud)

TL;DR

Principal Engineer (AWS/Cloud): Maintaining and improving software for the Quality Management and Review Systems (QMARS) program for CMS with an accent on cloud infrastructure and modernization. Focus on AWS CDK, Kubernetes orchestration, and DevSecOps security practices to reduce provider burden and minimize costs.

What you will do

• Maintain and improve software supporting the QMARS program for CMS.
• Implement and manage infrastructure using AWS CDK and CloudFormation.
• Utilize core AWS services including API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, and SNS.
• Configure and troubleshoot VPN, networking, and Route53 DNS settings.
• Operate and optimize AWS EKS and Kubernetes clusters.
• Apply a DevSecOps mindset to integrate security early in the development lifecycle.

Requirements

• US Citizenship or Green Card only (no sponsorship provided).
• US Residency for at least the past 3 years.
• Ability to obtain and hold a US Government Public Trust clearance.
• Proficiency in AWS CDK, CloudFormation, and AWS core services.
• Experience with Kubernetes, EKS, and network routing/DNS troubleshooting.
• Strong security mindset with a focus on shift-left security.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS ECS/ECR, Lambda, EC2, or Step Functions.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools like AWS CloudWatch, DataDog, and PagerDuty.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, or Github Actions.
• Familiarity with IAM Roles and Security Groups.
