What you will do

• Design a scalable architecture for the agent layer and implement technologies to enhance system performance.
• Set the technical direction and act as the primary decision-maker for the evolution of the agent layer.
• Provide technical guidance, conduct code reviews, and foster a culture of continuous learning within the team.
• Collaborate with product management and stakeholders to prioritize features and gather requirements.
• Lead large, multi-team technical initiatives from ambiguous design spaces to shipped software.
• Mitigate project risks and adjust plans based on stakeholder feedback and changing business priorities.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a technical lead or principal engineer on systems-level software projects (agents, daemons) at scale.
• Deep expertise in observability data collection (metrics, logs, traces) and protocols such as OTLP, Prometheus Remote Write, and syslog.
• Strong proficiency in Go.
• Experience designing management and control planes for distributed software, particularly protocol-driven approaches like OpAMP.
• Ability to produce high-quality design documents and ADRs and build consensus across stakeholders.
• Must be located in Portugal.

Nice to have

• Direct experience with hirify.global Agent, Fleet, Beats, or OpenTelemetry collector internals.
• Proficiency in cross-platform testing across Linux, Windows, MacOS, containers, and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of pipeline execution models and processing languages (Streamlang, Logstash, Fluent).
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Contributions to open source projects in the observability or agent ecosystem.
