AI Lead / Engineering Manager (AI): Leading a small engineering team building AI-driven product capabilities for automated setup, intelligent surveys, contextual analysis, and self-generating reports with an accent on LLM integrations, scalable architecture, observability, testing, and production readiness. Focus on shipping AI features from prototype to production, evaluating model quality and reliability, managing cost and latency tradeoffs, and coordinating delivery across a lean team.

What you will do
- Lead coordination, workload allocation, delivery timelines, and project follow-through for a small engineering team.
- Set technical standards for observability, testing, security, compliance, scalable architecture, data pipelines, and timeboxed AI development.
- Own architecture decisions involving model selection, integrations, quality, cost, and latency.
- Design, build, test, monitor, and ship AI-powered features using LLMs, embeddings, and related tooling.
- Partner with Product and company leadership on requirements, priorities, technical planning, resourcing, and sequencing.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience and experience shipping AI features to production across their full lifecycle.
- Hands-on technical leadership experience, ideally including 2–3 years of people leadership or delivery ownership for a small team.
- Strong full-stack fundamentals across frontend, backend, and infrastructure.
- Practical experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, RAG, multiple LLM providers, vector databases, and LangChain or similar tools.
- Experience with observability, automated testing, AI evaluations, SQL, schema design, scalable systems, Docker, CI/CD, and versioning prompts, models, and datasets.
- Ability to define metrics, run experiments and evaluations, identify technical risks, and keep AI development bounded and production-focused.
Nice to have
- Formal people-management experience as a tech lead, engineering manager, or player-coach.
- Experience with fine-tuning when it is technically justified.
- Security and compliance experience or a strong interest in the area.
