Platform Engineer (GCP)

TL;DR

What you will do

• Own and evolve the GCP-based platform to increase resilience and remove single points of failure.
• Establish developer experience by auditing engineering time loss and improving tooling, automation, and workflows.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, local development environments, and internal tooling.
• Introduce infrastructure-as-code and platform engineering best practices where missing or immature.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and curriculum teams to address platform limitations that create friction.
• Secure and monitor infrastructure: secure data to standards, monitor performance/errors, and fix issues independently.

Requirements

• Solid, hands-on cloud platform experience with GCP.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or equivalent).
• Proven experience improving CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with developer experience: local dev tooling, observability, internal platforms.
• Exposure to Kubernetes clusters and solid Linux experience.
• Comfortable using CLI and debugging via SSH; comfortable with scripting (e.g., bash).

Nice to have

• Experience with Python-based software and environments.
• Experience in data-heavy engineering environments.
• Experience with Kubernetes custom resource definitions and creating operators.
• Comfort with automation tools such as Ansible.
