What you will do

• Act as the principal legal adviser and own legal, regulatory, and compliance matters across the business.
• Draft, negotiate, and manage B2B customer, channel, distribution, partnership, procurement, and supplier agreements.
• Advise on consumer law, product compliance, product safety, warranties, returns, certification, and product liability.
• Manage software, SaaS, API, data protection, privacy, intellectual property, open-source, and third-party licensing matters.
• Support corporate governance, international expansion, cross-border operations, disputes, litigation, insurance, and external counsel management.
• Build contract templates, approval workflows, playbooks, compliance policies, training, and legal-risk tracking processes while scaling the legal function.

Requirements

• Qualified solicitor in England and Wales, or equivalent, with a strong post-qualification track record at General Counsel or senior-counsel level.
• Broad generalist commercial capability with strong commercial contracting experience and credible exposure to product or consumer law, regulation, data, or intellectual property.
• Experience operating as a sole or lead legal function, with the ability to work independently and prioritise a changing workload.
• Pragmatic commercial judgement and the ability to balance commercial, reputational, and legal risks.
• Ability to establish scalable legal processes and translate legal risk into clear commercial decisions.

Nice to have

• In-house experience in manufacturing, hardware, consumer technology, energy, or mobility.
• Familiarity with connected or IoT products and their data, liability, and intellectual-property issues.
• Experience across both B2B and B2C legal environments.
• Exposure to product-safety and product-liability matters.
• Experience establishing or scaling an in-house legal function.
