TL;DR
Tailings Practice Lead (AIM): Provide regional leadership for the AIM tailings practice, managing a team and delivering tailings disposal solutions with an accent on dam safety, water management, and mine waste solutions. What you will do
- Lead the AIM tailings practice regionally and manage a team of tailings engineers and technologists based in Johannesburg.
- Develop business and support marketing for existing and new mining and mineral refining clients, including expressions of interest and proposals.
- Collaborate with other tailings practices globally to develop tailings disposal solutions for the African mining industry.
- Lead scoping studies through to detailed engineering and operational support engagements.
- Support clients with technical clarifications using the Integrated Tailings Management (HITM) tool for monitoring data consolidation and GISTM compliance auditing.
- Grow and develop tailings and mine water management professionals in Johannesburg to support current projects and build external client capability.
Requirements
- Location: Must be based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
- Bachelor of Engineering Geology or Civil Engineering with some geotechnical/tailings experience.
- At least 10 years post-graduate experience in industrial civil projects for the mining and metals industry in Africa.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- High proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and working knowledge of MS Project.
- Ability to travel within Africa and the Middle East with a valid passport and approved visa/permanent residency to work in South Africa.

- Pr. Eng designation.
- Experience developing and reviewing engineering design for tailings facilities; Engineer-of-Record (EoR) capability.
- Working knowledge of geotechnical software and modeling tools (e.g., InRoads, Muk3D, Civil3D, Geostudio, Plaxis).
- Recognized expertise in heavy civil or dam design.
