General Counsel (SaaS/Cybersecurity)

Location: Cologne, Berlin, Munich, or remote from Germany

What you will do

• Lead and coach a team of three lawyers, set priorities, distribute work, support professional development, and plan for team growth.
• Set the legal strategy and goals in line with broader business objectives, including applying AI to legal work.
• Own corporate governance, commercial contracts, compliance, regulatory risk management, internal legal processes, and policies.
• Provide legal advice and risk assessments across the business, acting as the final escalation point on legal matters.
• Partner with Sales on quoting, offers, and contracting; work closely with Information Security on cybersecurity-related legal and regulatory matters.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the EU, manage the external DPO relationship, and coordinate external counsel.

Requirements

• 8+ years of post-qualification experience, including 3–5 years in a commercial or contracting environment.
• 2nd German State Examination (Volljurist).
• Proven experience leading and developing a team.
• Experience in SaaS or another technology business, with a solid understanding of technical and commercial dynamics.
• Strong track record supporting Sales teams and commercial deal cycles.
• Deep expertise in data protection law.
• Fluent German and English, written and spoken.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate legal concepts into practical guidance for non-lawyers; excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Pragmatic, business-oriented, hands-on, discreet, trustworthy, well organized, detail-conscious, and able to work independently under pressure and to deadlines in a fast-paced interdisciplinary environment.

• Experience in cybersecurity and working alongside Information Security teams.
• Exposure to intellectual property law.
