General Counsel (SaaS)

General Counsel (SaaS): Leading the legal function and strategy for a rapidly scaling cybersecurity awareness platform with an accent on commercial contracting, data protection, and corporate governance. Focus on building high-performing legal teams, navigating complex regulatory landscapes like GDPR and the EU AI Act, and acting as a strategic business partner to Sales and Product teams.

Location: Must be based in Germany (Remote or office-based in Cologne, Berlin, or Munich).

What you will do

• Manage and coach a team of 3 lawyers, setting clear priorities and fostering a culture of collaboration.
• Oversee core legal functions including corporate governance, commercial contracts, compliance, and regulatory risk.
• Provide strategic legal advice to leadership and act as the final point of escalation for legal matters.
• Partner with Sales to accelerate deal cycles and support quoting and contracting processes.
• Monitor legislative changes across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, translating them into practical business guidance.
• Coordinate with external counsel and manage the relationship with the external DPO.

Requirements

• 8+ years of post-qualification experience, with 3-5 years in a commercial or contracting environment.
• 2nd German State Examination (Volljurist) is mandatory.
• Fluent in German and English (written and spoken).
• Proven experience leading and developing legal teams.
• Deep expertise in data protection law and experience in a SaaS or technology business.
• Strong track record of supporting commercial deal cycles and Sales teams.

Nice to have

• Experience in cybersecurity or working alongside Information Security teams.
• Exposure to intellectual property law.
• Experience working with distributed or remote teams.
