What you will do

• Advise product and business teams on the design and launch of new features while balancing commercial goals with regulatory requirements.
• Assess crypto and web3 products against global regulatory frameworks to determine licensing and registration needs.
• Produce clear regulatory analysis on token classification, derivatives, and DeFi to provide actionable business positions.
• Lead end-to-end license applications, including preparing submissions and managing regulator inquiries.
• Embed compliance considerations, such as AML, KYC, and sanctions, directly into product design.
• Draft and negotiate commercial contracts while building scalable internal legal playbooks and processes.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer with 4 to 7 years PQE, ideally with in-house experience in crypto or web3.
• Strong working knowledge of regulatory frameworks for crypto, fintech, and financial services.
• Experience with financial promotions, advertising regulations, and market infrastructure activities.
• Ability to work autonomously under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, global environment.
• Fluency in English is required for all communications.
• Practical, solution-oriented approach with the ability to explain complex regulatory issues to non-lawyers.

Nice to have

• Experience with VASP or other crypto-asset service provider licensing regimes.
• Familiarity with MiCA, US, UK, APAC, or LATAM regulatory frameworks.
• Working knowledge of AML, KYC, sanctions, and data protection rules.
• Ability to speak and write in Chinese.
• Awareness of regulatory issues related to AI in financial products.
