What you will do

• Design and develop scalable backend services for internal and customer-facing web applications with a focus on performance and reliability
• Build developer tools including command-line utilities and APIs that integrate with the platform ecosystem
• Architect supporting systems such as databases, real-time data pipelines, and monitoring solutions
• Implement operational excellence with advanced monitoring/alerting and maintain high availability for production services
• Drive continuous architectural improvements, optimize performance, and enhance user experience through iterative refinement
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decision-making; support incident response and proactive maintenance

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in Sunnyvale, CA (Hybrid; 2-3 days in office)
• 8-10 years of production experience building and maintaining large-scale distributed systems processing high-volume data
• Advanced programming expertise in strongly typed languages (primarily Golang and Python)
• Proven microservices experience designing scalable REST APIs and distributed communication patterns
• Strong cloud infrastructure knowledge (AWS preferred; also Azure and GCP) for provisioning, monitoring, and optimization
• Message queue proficiency, particularly Kafka (throughput, lag monitoring, and performance considerations)
