Sr. Engineer - Risk Platform (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid in Sunnyvale, California, or Redmond, Washington, with 2-3 days in the office required

Salary: $140,000-$215,000 per year, plus bonuses, equity grants, and benefits

Cybersecurity company building an AI-native platform to protect organizations from breaches and evolving cyber threats.

What you will do

• Design and develop scalable backend services for internal and customer-facing applications.
• Build command-line utilities, REST APIs, databases, real-time data pipelines, and monitoring systems.
• Architect risk intelligence capabilities for attack path analysis, posture scoring, risk compounding, and remediation automation.
• Collaborate with UX/UI, Sensors, and other teams to deliver integrated solutions and documentation.
• Configure monitoring and alerting, maintain high availability, and handle proactive maintenance and incident response.
• Drive architectural improvements, optimize performance, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to technical decisions.

Requirements

• 8-10 years of production experience building and maintaining large-scale distributed systems processing high-volume data.
• Advanced programming skills in strongly typed object-oriented languages; Golang and Python are used primarily.
• Experience designing microservices, scalable REST APIs, and distributed communication patterns.
• Strong cloud infrastructure knowledge, preferably AWS, with Azure and GCP experience.
• Understanding of concurrency, parallel processing, sharding, eventual consistency, caching, and scalability patterns.
• Experience with Kafka, SQL/RDBMS databases including PostgreSQL, Redis, testing strategies, code reviews, troubleshooting, algorithms, data structures, and system design.

Nice to have

• Machine learning or AI implementation experience.
• Elasticsearch, Cassandra/CQL, or graph database experience.
• Cybersecurity industry experience or relevant certifications.
• Docker and Kubernetes experience.
• Open source contributions or technical community involvement.
