TL;DR

What you will do
- Lead the migration of the lighting pipeline from Maya/Redshift to Houdini/Solaris/USD/Redshift.
- Design and deploy master lighting rigs and production scene templates to ensure consistency.
- Execute lighting for complex hero and reference shots to establish visual standards.
- Optimize render times, scene performance, and memory usage for USD-based productions.
- Mentor junior artists and share best practices regarding USD concepts and Solaris.
- Collaborate with Compositing and Pipeline TDs to ensure a reliable rendering pipeline.
Requirements
- 5+ years of lighting experience in animation productions, with at least 2 years in Solaris/Houdini.
- Strong proficiency in USD concepts, including layers, opinions, composition arcs, and variants.
- Experience with Redshift and Nuke for effective pre-compositing and AOV management.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada (Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Open Work Permit).
- Education related to animation or 3D art (DEC, AEC, Bachelor, etc.).
- Strong eye for color, contrast, and visual continuity across sequences.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of Python or VEX for automating tasks within Houdini.
- Experience with Arnold, Katana, or legacy Maya light rigs.
