What you will do

• Collaborate with a small team of developers and biologists to enhance the GTEx Portal.
• Design and implement a production-grade, full-stack web portal.
• Develop large, complex frameworks and recommend appropriate libraries.
• Deploy and monitor application health on the Google Cloud Platform.
• Design and implement data models and RESTful web services.
• Provide technical support and answer questions from GTEx Portal users.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in modern typed Python and Pandas/Polars.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GKE, App Engine, GCS).
• Working knowledge of TypeScript/JavaScript, React or Vue3, HTML5, and CSS Modules.
• Experience with data visualization libraries such as D3.

Nice to have

• Experience with Pydantic and FastAPI.
• Experience using UI component explorers like StoryBook.
