Principal Engineer (GCP)

What you will do

• Define and drive the performance engineering strategy for cloud-native applications hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Analyze and optimize application performance across microservices, APIs, and databases to resolve bottlenecks impacting user experience.
• Design and oversee performance, load, stress, and scalability testing using tools like LoadRunner, JMeter, or Gatling.
• Lead and mentor a team of 4–5 Performance Engineers, establishing technical standards and best practices.
• Drive performance testing automation and integration within CI/CD pipelines.
• Present capacity planning recommendations and optimization strategies to technical leadership and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in Performance Engineering or Application Performance Optimization.
• Expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including cloud observability and monitoring.
• Strong understanding of distributed cloud-native architectures and containerized applications.
• Hands-on experience with performance testing tools (e.g., OpenText LoadRunner, Apache JMeter, Gatling).
• Must be based in the United States.
• Proven experience leading and mentoring technical teams in high-availability environments.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or financial services industries.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and Cloud Spanner.
• Familiarity with observability platforms such as Dynatrace, New Relic, AppDynamics, or Grafana.
• Experience with resiliency testing and production performance monitoring.
