What you will do

• Lead the production and review of HV cable system designs, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Oversee complex engineering tasks including thermal analysis, induced voltage calculations, and cable feasibility studies.
• Chair design reviews, HAZID, and hazard assessments to ensure project safety and compliance.
• Manage internal and external engineering teams to ensure project delivery within scope, time, and budget.
• Act as the primary technical liaison with clients and stakeholders.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in HV cable design practices and internal standards.

Requirements

• BEng/BSc/MSc in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
• Proven leadership experience in HV cable engineering.
• Strong understanding of IEC and CIGRE standards.
• Proficiency in technical software such as CYMCAP and COMSOL.
• Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior and senior engineers.
• Must be based in or able to work onsite in Manchester.

Nice to have

• Working towards or holding CEng status.
• Working towards or willing to work towards SR137 CDAE role by National Grid.
• Familiarity with client-specific technical specifications from National Grid, SSE, Scottish Power, and others.
