What you will do

• Conduct hazard identification, safety assessments, and failure mode analysis (FMEA/FMECA) throughout the product lifecycle.
• Integrate safety considerations into engineering decisions to ensure robust and reliable product design.
• Maintain the hazard log and ensure clear traceability from hazards to verification activities.
• Produce high-quality safety documentation, including safety cases and compliance reports.
• Facilitate safety reviews and workshops with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Interface with customers, regulators, and assurance bodies to support certification activities.

Requirements

• Must be a British Citizen with 10 years of UK residency for DV security clearance eligibility.
• Proven experience in safety engineering within regulated environments such as defense, aerospace, or nuclear.
• Strong knowledge of safety standards including Def Stan 00-56, MIL-STD 1629, and ARP4761.
• Expertise in hazard analysis techniques like PHA, FHA, and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
• Ability to influence engineering decisions and communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent safety-critical projects.

Nice to have

• Experience with requirements tools like DOORS or Enterprise Architect.
• Knowledge of digital electronics and hardware failure modes.
• Background in high-assurance secure systems or UK High Grade Cryptographic products.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices in assured systems.
