What you will do
- Develop and implement NRC’s advocacy strategy for Norwegian targets (and Swedish targets as relevant), including strategic planning and coordination of advocacy initiatives.
- Draft and disseminate advocacy products in Norwegian and English (briefings, talking points, speeches, letters, reports, position papers, and other written materials).
- Monitor and analyze Norwegian humanitarian and development policy and related refugee/displacement policy, and advise internal stakeholders on relevant developments.
- Represent NRC in policy and advocacy fora as needed, including acting as a media spokesperson when required.
- Build and maintain strong networks and contacts in Norway (and Sweden as relevant), and coordinate advocacy planning with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide surge capacity and remote support to country offices on advocacy and policy matters when required, including leadership related to the Norwegian aid reform process Turning Point/Vendepunkt.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., law, human rights, political science, or related).
- Minimum 5 years of documented relevant experience in the humanitarian sector, including field experience.
- Proven ability to lead high-level advocacy processes with government counterparts, donors, and peer organisations to influence policy and funding decisions.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Norwegian.
- Demonstrated experience developing actionable policy recommendations tailored to different interlocutors, including drafting speeches, talking points, and position papers.
- Documented knowledge of Norwegian politics, foreign aid, and refugee policy; knowledge of Nordic/European policy is an asset.
