Sensor Integration Software Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; onsite. Remote work options are not available.

What you will do

• Design, develop, optimize, and maintain low-latency device drivers and software pipelines for cameras, LiDAR, radar, IMU, GNSS, microphones, actuators, and other vehicle sensors.
• Develop algorithms for timestamping, filtering, preprocessing, and synchronizing sensor data for perception and localization systems.
• Build and maintain data analysis pipelines for sensor health monitoring, early detection of out-of-spec behavior, and performance bottleneck identification.
• Collaborate with embedded, perception, and localization teams to integrate sensors into the autonomous vehicle platform.
• Debug hardware- and software-related issues and provide sensor-domain expertise to guide technical solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, robotics, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related STEM field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of production software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C++ and Python.
• Knowledge of automotive cameras, LiDAR, radar, IMU, GNSS, sensor principles, limitations, and calibration techniques.
• Familiarity with ROS or similar frameworks, communication protocols, Linux networking, and network debugging.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with self-driving cars, autonomous vehicles, or robotic systems.
• Experience developing drivers or processing software for radar and camera data.
• Experience with real-time embedded systems and asynchronous, safety-critical processes, threads, timers, and interrupts.
• Experience with custom Linux-based embedded systems, kernel-space sensor pipelines, hardware bring-up, schematics, and embedded device debugging.
• Knowledge of CAN, SPI, I2C, PCIe, and Ethernet interfaces.
