Staff Software Engineer (Payments): Designing and enhancing RESTful and event-driven APIs for high-volume payment, reconciliation, and reporting workflows with an accent on secure, versioned, and contract-first interfaces. Focus on building resilient ACH and card processing pipelines, implementing cloud-native architectures, and leading multi-year modernization initiatives.
Location: Hybrid (Lehi, Utah). Must report to the office in Lehi, UT (up to 2 days telecommuting permitted per week).
Salary: $158,400 - $256,500 per year

What you will do
- Design and develop RESTful and event-driven APIs for high-volume payment and reconciliation workflows.
- Build and optimize settlement pipelines for ACH, card, and check processing systems to increase observability and throughput.
- Define architecture standards and provide technical guidance to distributed engineering teams via code reviews and documentation.
- Collaborate with Product and UX teams to implement scalable, compliant technical solutions based on business requirements.
- Lead multi-year modernization initiatives, including service decomposition, modularization, and cloud-native adoption.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and testing mechanisms to support platform reliability and release readiness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of professional experience in fullstack software engineering.
- Must be based in or be able to work from Lehi, Utah.
- Expertise in ACH (NACHA), card platforms (Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, Discover), and PCI-compliant platforms.
- Proven experience with RabbitMQ, DDD, CQRS, and asynchronous messaging for distributed enterprise systems.
- Strong proficiency in designing ACID-compliant databases and data integration tools including SSIS and SSRS.
