What you will do

• Engineer and hand-fabricate proof-of-concept prototypes using materials like textiles, silicone, and leather.
• Develop tooling and fixture design concepts for softgoods components.
• Operate specialized machinery and prepare cut/print files for daily fabrication tasks.
• Conduct core engineering tasks including 3D CAD modeling, analysis, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with internal design and engineering teams to refine prototyping processes for small build quantities.
• Support tooling design and assembly CAD to ensure design intent is met through production.

Requirements

• Must be based on-site in Boulder, CO
• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 3+ years of experience in prototyping or fabrication within consumer electronics or softgoods industries.
• Proficiency in manufacturing processes including injection molding, machining, and softgoods fabrication.
• Strong knowledge of DFM/DFA principles and First Article Inspection (FAI).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, including GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
