TL;DR

Tailings Engineer (Mining): Developing sustainable tailings and mine waste management solutions with an accent on facility design, slurry distribution studies, and dam safety. Location: Johannesburg, South Africa. Ability to travel within Africa and the Middle East is required.

What you will do

  • Prepare engineering calculations and write technical reports.
  • Supervise designers in the development of engineering deliverables.
  • Develop integrated tailings management solutions, including facility designs and slurry distribution studies.
  • Contribute to technical packages for large mine waste projects from pre-feasibility to detailed design.
  • Perform fieldwork and provide construction technical support for tailings facilities.
  • Analyze technical data for GISTM compliance auditing using the HITM tool.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Geology or Civil Engineering.
  • Professional experience in geotechnical or tailings engineering.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project.
  • Valid passport, permanent residency, or approved visa to work in South Africa.

Nice to have

  • Post-graduate experience in industrial civil projects for the mining and metals industry in Africa.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical software such as InRoads, Muk3D, Civil3D, Geostudio, and Plaxis.
  • Experience with large civil earthworks projects in remote areas.
  • Knowledge of local and international tailings management guidelines.
