TL;DR

Mechanical Engineering Intern (Aerospace): Developing and producing spacecraft hardware with an accent on CAD modeling, engineering analysis, and prototype assembly. Focus on taking projects from concept through implementation to ensure absolute precision in PNT satellite infrastructure.

Location: Must be based in Burlingame, California

Salary: $30 – $45 per hour

What you will do

  • Own a mechanical engineering project from initial concept through final implementation.
  • Create CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and detailed engineering documentation.
  • Perform engineering analyses to evaluate and improve design performance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, manufacturing, and systems) to translate requirements into solutions.
  • Assemble, integrate, and test mechanical hardware in a laboratory environment.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to procure fabricated and commercial components.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline (expected graduation 2027–2029).
  • U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder), or other protected individual per U.S. Government export regulations.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, with a preference for SolidWorks.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in Burlingame for the internship duration.
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and a hands-on approach to laboratory work.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Formula SAE, CubeSat, robotics, or personal hardware projects.
  • Familiarity with machining, sheet metal, or additive manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Hands-on experience assembling or testing mechanical hardware.
