Electrical Safety Engineer

Location: San Jose, CA, US; onsite role with limited travel of less than 15%

Salary: $139,200–$191,400 base annual salary

What you will do

• Act as the electrical safety subject matter expert for product development and operational safety.
• Lead technical discussions, safety risk assessments, design reviews, and mitigation strategies for new and existing systems.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Conduct laboratory inspections and maintain safety actions, documentation, and tracking in Intelex or a similar EHS system.
• Partner with engineering, manufacturing, customer support, and EHS teams across the full product lifecycle.
• Develop electrical safety training and improve organizational safety competence and maturity.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of electrical system design experience, or MS in Electrical Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience applying electrical safety standards and conducting product-design risk assessments.
• Experience with laboratory or manufacturing safety, incident investigations, inspections, audits, and EHS management systems.
• Strong knowledge of grounding, insulation, high-voltage systems, interlocks, fault protection, and electrical hazard mitigation.
• Knowledge of standards and methodologies including SEMI S2, IEC 60204-1, IEC 61010-1, NFPA 70/70E/79, OSHA, UL, ISO 12100, and SEMI S10.
• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives without direct authority, influence design decisions, and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
