What you will do
- Own the end-to-end US payroll process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Build and maintain a strong payroll control environment, including approval flows, segregation of duties, and audit-ready documentation.
- Develop a standardized global payroll operating model across the UK, US, Singapore, and future jurisdictions.
- Perform payroll reconciliations, including payroll to GL, funding, tax liabilities, and benefits deductions.
- Partner with People, Finance, Legal, and Tax teams to support employee mobility and international expansion.
- Maintain and improve payroll systems, HRIS, and finance system data flows.
Requirements
- Strong experience managing US payroll, particularly in a multi-state environment.
- Deep understanding of US payroll tax, benefits deductions, and statutory reporting.
- Experience working with external payroll providers and HRIS/payroll systems.
- Proven expertise in payroll controls, reconciliations, and audit requirements.
- Must be based in or able to work hybrid from the New York office.
Nice to have
- Experience supporting payroll across multiple countries.
- Background in technology, engineering, SaaS, or high-growth startups.
- Knowledge of employee mobility, expatriate payroll, or cross-border matters.
- CPP or similar professional payroll qualification.
