Senior Java Fullstack Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in Birmingham (Snowhill), United Kingdom, with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

Salary: £50,000–£75,000 per year, plus a 10% target annual bonus.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java 17 and Spring Boot microservices and backend applications.
• Build and support RESTful APIs powering digital products and customer experiences.
• Contribute to React-based customer-facing applications and modern web technologies.
• Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
• Support CI/CD, automation, DevOps practices, and cloud-native technology adoption.
• Lead technical discussions, conduct code reviews, troubleshoot complex issues, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience delivering enterprise-scale software engineering solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java 17, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, and RESTful API development.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Git-based source control, and cloud-native application development.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments with strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
• Availability to work in a hybrid arrangement from the Birmingham Snowhill office.

Nice to have

• React, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3 experience.
• AWS or other public cloud experience, GraphQL, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Event-driven architectures, messaging, observability, and monitoring platforms such as Dynatrace, Grafana, or CloudWatch.
• Experience in payments, financial services, or fintech, including payment gateways, digital wallets, Open Banking, card payments, BNPL, and financial service APIs.
• Knowledge of PCI DSS, authentication, fraud prevention controls, and third-party payment integrations.
