Principal Product Engineer - Custom Layout & Virtuoso Applications (SKILL)

Location: Edinburgh, United Kingdom; occasional travel to customer sites and hirify.global offices is expected, estimated at less than 10% of working time.

What you will do

• Engage with strategic customers to understand custom analog and FinFet-based layout requirements and provide product guidance.
• Deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, education, enablement sessions, and Rapid Adoption Kits for customers, sales, and pre-sales teams.
• Build SKILL-based utilities, define validation plans, and create test schematics and layouts in the Virtuoso platform.
• Capture customer feedback, debug product issues, file Change Correction Requests, and drive improvements through resolution with R&D.
• Author Product Requirement Specifications and align engineering, product, commercial, and customer-success stakeholders.
• Partner with Product Validation, Technical Publications, and Marketing on regression testing, documentation, product positioning, and licensing strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5–8 years of experience in the EDA industry or a closely related technical field.
• Demonstrated experience in custom analog layout and connectivity-driven layout workflows.
• Hands-on experience with the Virtuoso Layout Suite.
• Ability to write functional utilities independently using the SKILL programming language.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical content to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience with FinFet layout techniques and multi-patterning methodologies.
• Experience with the Virtuoso Analog Design Environment, Innovus, and Open-Access frameworks.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as TCL or Perl.
• Experience in customer-facing or field applications engineering roles.
