Staff Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Staff Software Engineer (Aerospace): Building and maintaining mission-critical ground system software for earth observation satellites with an accent on cloud-native architecture and automated testing. Location: Must be based in or able to commute to Westminster, CO (Hybrid: 3 days in-office, 2 days remote). Must be a U.S. Person (Citizen, Permanent Resident, Asylee, or Refugee) due to ITAR/Export Control requirements.

Salary: $102,000 – $149,600 annually (based on Colorado location).

What you will do

• Design and develop operational code for new satellite ground system features and defect repairs.
• Create and maintain automated unit, functional, and integration tests.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues within complex microservice-based systems.
• Document functionality and test results to meet corporate standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including System Engineers, Operations, and Product Owners.
• Participate in Communities of Practice to improve engineering best practices.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in complex software development.
• Expertise in Python (Django) and Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS).
• Strong understanding of API concepts (REST, JSON, YAML).
• Experience with test automation frameworks like Cucumber, Gherkin, or Behave.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with K8S, Docker, Jenkins, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency in Ruby or Go programming languages.
• Knowledge of RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
• Background in Aerospace or Satellite Ground Systems.
