What you will do

• Set technical direction for major systems, including backend services, data models, and APIs.
• Write and ship production code across the stack while establishing high engineering standards.
• Own cloud infrastructure on AWS using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Pulumi.
• Design and harden CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling to ensure safe and rapid deployments.
• Architect containerized applications and orchestration strategies using Kubernetes.
• Define observability, monitoring, and security practices to maintain system health and data integrity.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant time at a Staff or Principal level.
• Deep expertise in building and operating backend services and distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in modern languages such as Go, Python, or TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS), containers, and Kubernetes.
• Must be able to work on-site in Scotts Valley, CA.
• Proven track record of leading ambiguous, cross-functional projects end-to-end.

Nice to have

• Experience building software for manufacturing, supply chain, or industrial systems (MES, WMS, ERP).
• Experience standing up platforms from greenfield at a fast-growing startup.
• Familiarity with relational databases, SQL, and data warehousing.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and real-time telemetry data.
