Senior Software Engineer (HPC/Scientific Computing): Building and maintaining on-site HPC infrastructure and scientific computing environments with an accent on scalable, resilient tooling and developer productivity for hard-science workflows. Focus on HPC/MPI/Linux debugging, job orchestration and results infrastructure, and modernizing legacy scientific computing systems while partnering with DevOps across AWS and on-premises Linux.

Location: El Segundo, CA (100% onsite)

What you will do

• Support scientific computing workflows and performance, including licensing, environment setup, job orchestration, and results infrastructure for Ansys, STAR-CCM+, and Abaqus.
• Triage and resolve HPC infrastructure requests, including HPC/MPI/Linux debugging and job failure analysis.
• Modernize legacy scientific computing systems and tooling by migrating to current stacks to improve maintainability, performance, and developer experience.
• Partner with DevOps to maintain systems across AWS and on-premises Linux for high availability, security, and performance.
• Contribute to tools for build systems, testing frameworks, deployment automation, and developer environments.

Requirements

• On-site requirement: must work 100% onsite at El Segundo HQ.
• 4+ years of professional experience in developer productivity, site reliability, DevOps, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• Linux and sysadmin fluency (file systems, process management, networking).
• Strong proficiency in one or more languages: Python, Golang, Rust, C#, or C/C++.
• Experience reading stack traces and working through legacy scientific software environments; strong code review skills.
• Strong communication skills for cross-disciplinary engineering stakeholders; ability to explain findings clearly.
