Software Engineer (AI)

Location: On-site 5 days a week in the San Francisco office, United States

Salary: $167,000–$184,000 per year, with market-based geographic tiers.

What you will do

• Build and iterate on agentic LLM systems, including retrieval pipelines, structured tool use, and chained LLM workflows.
• Develop AI-powered features that support real clinical workflows and ship production code.
• Contribute to evaluation frameworks and automated pipelines measuring accuracy, robustness, and clinical reliability, including human-in-the-loop review.
• Prototype with new models, prompting techniques, and open-source orchestration tools such as LangChain and LlamaIndex.
• Contribute to backend, frontend, monitoring, and observability systems across the platform.
• Collaborate with ML, infrastructure, product, research, and clinical teams to understand and serve clinicians and patients.

Requirements

• Degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience through projects, bootcamps, internships, or open source.
• Hands-on generative AI experience, such as integrating an LLM API, building a RAG pipeline, experimenting with agents, or shipping an AI-powered project.
• Familiarity with LLM orchestration concepts including prompt chaining, tool use, and retrieval.
• Curiosity about model evaluation, failure modes, and building reliable LLM systems.
• Collaborative, low-ego mindset and willingness to contribute across areas.
