Quality Engineer (Automotive)

TL;DR

Quality Engineer (Automotive/Manufacturing): Supporting pre-production and low-volume production of powertrains and vehicles with an accent on issue resolution and root cause analysis. Focus on collaborating across design and manufacturing teams to ensure high-quality product delivery and process control.

Location: Onsite in Pontiac, Michigan. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.

What you will do

• Provide technical guidance to technicians and identify, track, and resolve quality issues to meet timing objectives.
• Act as a primary liaison between GAIC, Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supplier Quality.
• Lead easel board reviews and participate in Issue Resolution Team meetings.
• Maintain process control plans and internal audit documentation.
• Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and math data, and review dimensional data from CMM and FARO reports.
• Support supplier quality containment activities and continuous improvement efforts within the GMS framework.

Requirements

• 2+ years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
• Proficiency in GM systems such as EMS, PRTS, ABAT, Teamcenter, and GDIS.
• Must not require immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

• Experience working with union-represented employees.
• Knowledge of GM’s Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles.
• Experience with ISO 9001 compliance and audits.
• Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
