AWS/Redshift Database Administrator (AWS)

TL;DR

AWS/Redshift Database Administrator (AWS/Cloud): Managing and optimizing Redshift clusters and diverse RDBMS environments to ensure high availability and performance with an accent on cluster health, WLM queue tuning, and disaster recovery. Focus on diagnosing complex performance issues using system views and CloudWatch, handling production incidents, and automating maintenance tasks.

Location: Porto, Portugal. Must work from the office 4 days per week.

What you will do

• Monitor Redshift cluster health, performance, and resource utilization daily.
• Manage WLM queues to isolate and prioritize workloads and implement VACUUM/ANALYZE strategies.
• Diagnose and resolve performance issues using SVL/STV system views and CloudWatch metrics.
• Oversee installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades for on-premises and AWS database environments.
• Administer user access, space allocation, backup policies, and disaster recovery configurations.
• Participate in incident response, including war room calls, and monthly on-call rotations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator with a deep focus on AWS database services in production.
• Expert-level Amazon Redshift administration skills, including cluster management, distribution/sort keys, and WLM configuration.
• Operational experience with at least one other RDBMS (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server).
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Availability for Saturday production windows and monthly on-call rotations.
• Bachelor's degree.
