Research Software Engineer (AI)

Research Software Engineer (AI/Fullstack): Developing bespoke software and providing consulting for diverse research projects across AI, bioinformatics, and cyber security with an accent on software architecture and reproducible research. Salary: €3,546 – €5,538 gross per month

What you will do

• Collaborate with researchers across diverse domains including AI, bioinformatics, computer graphics, and cyber security.
• Design and implement software solutions for HPC, edge, and embedded systems.
• Develop, train, and deploy machine learning models and data analysis pipelines.
• Build web and mobile applications as well as interactive visualizations.
• Promote and implement best practices for open and reproducible research.

Requirements

• Master or PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a similar field.
• Fluency in modern programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or Rust.
• Must be an EU citizen or have a valid Dutch work permit.
• Experience with software development best practices (version control, CI/CD, automated testing).
• Strong communicative skills in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with Artificial Intelligence, Large Language Models, or Computer Vision.
• Knowledge of Data Engineering, Reinforcement Learning, or Signal Processing.
• Experience with designing and testing embedded systems and PCB prototyping.
• Experience with web applications and interactive visualizations.
