What you will do

• Lead and manage the Desk Underwriting Team, setting clear objectives and fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
• Manage team capacity and prioritise workloads to ensure service, quality, and turnaround standards are consistently met.
• Coach and develop team members through regular feedback, development planning, and performance reviews.
• Underwrite, price, and negotiate new and existing business in line with risk quality and company guidelines.
• Build and maintain strong broker relationships to support service delivery and business growth.
• Monitor the book of business performance, including retention and profitability, using management information.

Requirements

• Strong leadership capability and proven people management skills, including coaching and delegation.
• Expert underwriting judgement with the ability to assess complex commercial risk information.
• Preferably proven experience in underwriting within SME, Professional Indemnity, or Commercial Risks.
• Degree educated or equivalent.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Must be based in Lisbon.
