Applications Engineering Leader (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: Austin, TX, US; expected to transition toward the future HVM manufacturing location as the customer footprint evolves. Up to approximately 30% domestic and international travel is required.

Base annual salary: $172,125–$252,450.

What you will do

• Lead the local Applications Engineering organization through NPI, pilot-line execution, ramp-to-volume, and sustaining operations.
• Build and scale the organization, including hiring plans, role segmentation, capability development, performance management, talent development, and succession planning.
• Define and deploy the long-term high-volume manufacturing Applications support model and establish operating rhythms and business reviews.
• Align local execution with global strategy, prioritize resources, escalate risks, influence roadmap decisions, and improve execution and escalation processes.
• Serve as the senior Applications representative to the customer, represent the Voice of the Customer, and strengthen strategic partnerships.
• Apply lithography, metrology, and manufacturing expertise to drive wafer introduction, tool qualification, yield, availability, operational readiness, and customer growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• At least 12 years of experience in IC manufacturing, lithography, metrology, or process technology.
• At least 5 years of leadership experience in technical, customer-facing environments.
• Experience with NPI, ramp, high-volume manufacturing, or advanced manufacturing operations.
• Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing technical teams.
• Strong program or operations management experience in cross-functional environments.
• Experience working with global stakeholders and complex customer structures.
• Strong leadership presence, strategic decision-making, executive-level communication, stakeholder management, business acumen, customer focus, data-driven problem-solving, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
• Ability to translate strategy into structured execution plans, build long-term partnerships, influence matrixed organizations, and lead through change in a fast-paced environment.
