What you will do

• Design and implement production-quality Linux software drivers for test instruments using SCPI, VISA, and various communication protocols.
• Architect and extend automated test execution frameworks and result-checking infrastructure for flight-critical hardware.
• Develop operator-facing GUI and CLI applications to support test engineers in configuring and monitoring avionics test campaigns.
• Collaborate with avionics hardware engineers to define operating envelopes and validate driver correctness against hardware specifications.
• Maintain deployment automation and configuration management using Ansible to ensure system reliability.
• Drive technical debt reduction by standardizing interfaces and maintaining a clean, modular codebase.

Requirements

• U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or refugee/asylee status required due to export control regulations.
• B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and experience developing software on Linux.
• Proven experience writing hardware interface software, such as instrument drivers or embedded systems.
• Strong understanding of networking stacks, socket programming, and automated test frameworks like pytest.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ansible or infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Proficiency in building GUI applications with PyQt or web-based interfaces.
• Experience with C++ in embedded or hardware-interface contexts.
• Familiarity with aerospace data management systems like DOORS or Jama.
• Knowledge of Docker and containerized test environments.
