Senior Data Architect

Salary: $140,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Define scalable canonical, logical, and physical data models for operational systems, integrations, analytics, reporting, and AI-enabled capabilities.
• Architect database and data-store strategies across MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, object storage, search systems, warehouses, and reporting platforms.
• Design streaming and event-driven architectures, including event schemas, message contracts, partitioning, retention, replay, and resilient consumers.
• Lead database optimization, capacity planning, observability, backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery practices.
• Design data warehouses, dimensional and hybrid models, BI datasets, semantic layers, governance, lineage, cataloging, and access-control patterns.
• Collaborate with architects, engineering, product, and operations stakeholders; review designs and migrations, mentor engineers, and document architecture decisions.

Requirements

• Strong production experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL, plus MongoDB and document-oriented data modeling.
• Hands-on expertise in data modeling, schema design, normalization and denormalization, query tuning, indexing, partitioning, replication, and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience designing and operating streaming solutions, event-driven architectures, real-time data pipelines, and high-volume production data systems.
• Experience with data warehousing, dimensional modeling, BI reporting solutions, semantic layers, dashboards, and reporting datasets.
• Practical understanding of how data architecture enables machine learning, generative AI, retrieval, search, automation, and advanced analytics.
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex architecture decisions to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud-native data services in AWS, Azure, or GovCloud.
• Background in object storage, data lakes, search platforms, streaming architectures, or large-scale media metadata systems.
• Experience with data governance, cataloging, lineage, privacy, security, compliance, retention, legacy modernization, or large-scale database migrations.
• Experience supporting public safety, law enforcement, corrections, digital evidence, video, or mission-critical SaaS platforms.
