What you will do

• Develop hazard analyses, software safety assessments, and hazardous material management plans.
• Recommend safety criteria in system design, equipment, and procedures to eliminate or control hazards.
• Flow down system safety requirements to suppliers and verify design implementation.
• Prepare technical documentation and presentations for independent safety board meetings.
• Participate in accident investigations to identify causes and corrective actions.
• Mentor and train early-career System Safety Engineers in the discipline.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• Experience implementing System Safety Programs in accordance with MIL-STD-882.
• Familiarity with Software Safety Programs IAW AOP-52 and DoD guidelines.
• Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
• Strong written and oral communication skills for formal presentations to large groups.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting independent government Safety Review Boards.
• Knowledge of Human Factors Engineering.
• Familiarity with missile and launcher systems.
• Experience with DOORS requirements application.
• Model-based engineering knowledge.
