What you will do

• Lead data science initiatives across structured and unstructured data, including profiling, cleaning, and modeling.
• Design, train, and deploy machine learning models and AI services within governed cloud environments.
• Implement MLOps practices, including model lifecycle management, inference logging, and PII guardrails.
• Manage a team of 3–5 engineers, providing technical guidance and strategic vision.
• Ensure compliance with AI governance, including bias testing, algorithmic risk assessments, and Section 508 accessibility standards.
• Communicate technical findings and strategic tradeoffs to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in computer science, data science, statistics, or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in data analysis, modeling, and management.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or have lived in the U.S. for at least 3 of the last 5 years to pass public trust clearance.
• Deep understanding of federal data programs, security, and privacy regulations.
• Proficiency in Python, PySpark, R, SQL, Scala, Java, or C++.
• Experience with big data technologies, distributed processing, and CI/CD pipelines.

Nice to have

• Experience with NLP, computer vision, deep learning, and neural networks.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks or AWS cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and vector search patterns.
• Certifications in AWS or Databricks Machine Learning.
