Location: Must be based in the UK, have the right to work in the UK, and live within a commutable distance of the London office (minimum 3 days per week in-person).

What you will do
- Set the strategic direction, business planning requirements, and growth targets for PeerJ and F1000 portfolios.
- Drive innovation in open access publishing models to align with the open research vision and expand market impact.
- Lead and develop a team of editorial staff, managing workforce plans and talent retention across global operations.
- Establish systems for market intelligence to monitor open research trends and competitor activity.
- Foster strategic partnerships with the scientific community, including authors, reviewers, and institutional partners.
- Oversee operational protocols and partnership agreements to ensure administrative efficiency and profitability.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in academic publishing with at least 3 years in a leadership role, ideally in open access models.
- Deep understanding of the open access publishing landscape and innovative publishing platforms.
- Proven track record of executing strategic plans that drive revenue growth and market expansion.
- Demonstrated financial acumen with experience in P&L management or budget oversight.
- Right to work and live in the UK is mandatory.
- Ability to work from the London Blackfriars office at least 3 days per week.

- Knowledge of open peer review, open data, and transparent publishing practices.
- Established network within the scientific research community.
- Understanding of emerging technologies in scholarly publishing, such as AI and machine learning.
- Experience managing international, distributed teams.
