Research Scientist (Life Sciences)

Location: Must be based in San Francisco, CA (Hybrid: 25%+ in-office)

Salary: $300,000 - $320,000 USD

What you will do

• Design and iterate on experimental programs including molecular biology, biochemistry, and assay development.
• Partner with computational biologists to generate high-quality, analysis-ready data.
• Prioritize research hypotheses by combining experimental judgment with computational predictions.
• Utilize Claude and internal agent frameworks for experimental planning and protocol development.
• Contribute to model-improvement teams by providing evaluations, datasets, and failure cases.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in a biological science (molecular biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, computational biology) or related field.
• Proven track record of bridging biological domain knowledge with computational approaches.
• Basic proficiency in Python and familiarity with ML development practices.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Must be able to work from the San Francisco office at least 25% of the time.

Nice to have

• Published research or practical experience in scientific AI applications.
• Familiarity with modern machine learning techniques and model training methodologies.
• Experience with biological databases like UniProt, GenBank, or PDB.
